workshop

My Ringwood workshop has been running for two weeks now so we are half way through. The first week we made three oriental books an account book, toji book and a hard cover accordian.

The next week we made one book which was a leather bound through the spine multi section book. These are some examples I made as practice runs before the class.

This week we are doing flag books, here are some pics of one I made a few years ago and an unfinished mockup made with some of the IAPMA promotional postcards that printed badly.
I love the way the flags move when you compress and extend the concertina. I'm also in the process of making a photo album based on the same principal but with the sheets sewn into the concertina rather than glued on.

I'm using some tapa that was given to me recently for the tabs and I plan to use it to line the covers too. I've also been making some small books with the tapa as covers.
I was reminded at Yabbers the other day that I hadn't posted for some time, I must admit I was getting so frustrated with the images and arranging the blog last time that I nearly stopped blogging all together. It seems to have worked better today so maybe I'll be back.

The tapa covers look great. I thought you were up the road from me at first as we have a Ringwood here in the New Forest.
