workshop two

Afternoon tea at the Windsor for Auntie's 90th birthday, I was meant to take my mum but she wasn't up to it so I got to play ladies!

My book class had the last session on Saturday and we made two needle coptics, here is my example.
The previous week we made flag books from postcards and again here is my example.
I used a couple of Alisa Golden's book for the instructions and for inspirational examples.
The participants made some great looking flag books especially from the IAMPA cards. They are quite keen for me to go back and teach Papermaking and another book class.
I have been making a few photo albums lately with 300 gsm Hahnemuhle, here are a few pics of my newest books.

And this is a miniature book work in progress for the Valda Quick Paper Arts Biennial which is to be held at Bundoora Homestead in November.
Lastly, in preparation for a workshop with Glen Skien the weekend after next I went around the garden taking a few photos and found these fungi.

workshop

My Ringwood workshop has been running for two weeks now so we are half way through. The first week we made three oriental books an account book, toji book and a hard cover accordian.

The next week we made one book which was a leather bound through the spine multi section book. These are some examples I made as practice runs before the class.

This week we are doing flag books, here are some pics of one I made a few years ago and an unfinished mockup made with some of the IAPMA promotional postcards that printed badly.
I love the way the flags move when you compress and extend the concertina. I'm also in the process of making a photo album based on the same principal but with the sheets sewn into the concertina rather than glued on.

I'm using some tapa that was given to me recently for the tabs and I plan to use it to line the covers too. I've also been making some small books with the tapa as covers.
I was reminded at Yabbers the other day that I hadn't posted for some time, I must admit I was getting so frustrated with the images and arranging the blog last time that I nearly stopped blogging all together. It seems to have worked better today so maybe I'll be back.
