All made by pouring recycled pulp through a tin can with both ends removed. I then pressed lightly then rolled onto lace on fibro cement. I made the little bags the same way, getting two out of one A4 sheet. I made the sheets by knitting triangles of fluffy yarn and leaving a long thread with which I spelt out knitting text like knit, purl, slip, psso, k2tog. I made one sheet of well beaten dyed ginger lily then positioned the triangle at the end of the sheet, spelt out the word then couched another sheet on top. I let it dry so that it shrunk as it dried. Beverley had prepared about 20 icecream tubs of recycled archival board that she had dyed different colours and we had three vats going at once. The first week we made three oriental books an account book, toji book and a hard cover accordian.

The next week we made one book which was a leather bound through the spine multi section book. These are some examples I made as practice runs before the class.

At Yabbers on Wednesday we had a great gathering and tried out my workroom for the first time fitting nine of us in without too much trouble, well it was a bit squeezy if anyone wanted to move around. Tricia had sourced some instructions for making a sewing frame from an encyclopaedia so we started the day by making a frame each. We made shapes, covered them with gauze then dipped them in a vat of kozo, a technique I learned from Catherine Nash back in 2000 in Tuscany.
